Calgary, Alberta – The Calgary music community is celebrating a remarkable achievement as Elizabeth DiMarino has been named Music Educator of the Year at the 2024 YYC Music Awards (YYCMA). This prestigious honour recognizes DiMarino’s extraordinary contributions to music education and her dedication to nurturing young musicians throughout the city.
With over 20 years of experience in music education, DiMarino has cultivated a reputation for her innovative teaching methods, passion for the arts, and commitment to fostering a deep love of music among her students. Her work extends beyond traditional classroom settings, involving community outreach, performances, and mentorship programs aimed at providing students with invaluable real-world music experiences.
Upon receiving the award, DiMarino expressed her gratitude, stating, "I want to dedicate this award to all my incredible students, who inspire me every single day, and to the parents who’ve managed to endure endless renditions of 'Hot Cross Buns' without losing their sanity. And finally, to every school and community music ensemble out there, keep playing, keep singing, and keep reminding us all of the joy that music brings."
