Band Director Academy
Since 2006 CADME has been in a partnership with the faculty from Jazz at the Lincoln Center. Each year the faculty has been brought to Calgary to work with jazz educators. The BDA occurs in January of each year, covering such topics as Jazz Improvisation, Rhythm Section Fundamentals and Rehearsal Techniques.
Jazz at Lincoln Center presents a three-day professional development workshop on the essentials of teaching jazz - including improvisation, rhythm section and big band rehearsal techniques. Featuring an integration of performance, jazz pedogy and demonstration of best practices, BDA emphasizes hands-on learning and techniques to be applied directly in the classroom. It is led by some of the foremost jazz educators in the country and also includes jam sessions, lunchtime topic discussions and a faculty concert.

$450.00 – CADME members
$225.00 – CADME members who are post secondary students registered in music education programs
Current CADME members are offered “guaranteed” registration until December 8th.
After December 8, registration will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.
